happy trails ... until we meet again

Krista's mom was in Milwaukee for a few days.
Happy fish fry day with papa and mama.
"Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people." Philemon 1:7

We made it from Milwaukee to Council Bluffs and to Albuquerque and Santa Monica... in the middle of winter. We are thankful to our Father in Heaven for His protection, and we are grateful to our family around the states who warmly welcomed us and gave us joy along the way!
We drove to visit my great-Aunt Bertha,
who is living near Chicago.

It's been nearly 4 years since we last braved a Midwest to California road trip.  This trip we have spent 48 hours in the car and driven more than 2,500 miles. It was amazing ... to see the beauty of our native land and to be refreshed and encouraged by so many! As for the beauty - there were cardinals and eagles and bluebirds; snow and cactus and towering mountains and vast deserts. With our family, we ate, laughed, learned and fellowshipped together. We will be able to share with many about our adventures when we return to our East Asia home... in a couple of weeks!

Here's a taste of our journey:

Fellowship time and catching up with Bob & Iva in Iowa,
seeing the local sights and being treated to great Mexican food.
We were blessed to see Dorsey and her family in Albuquerque.
So much fun chatting and drinking tea with Dorsey...

enjoying performances by Hannah, Alicia and Amanda...
and eating yummy tacos made by Mario.

After a night of "camping" at the Barstow KOA,
we spent a couple of warm sunny days with Preston's brother,
Erich, and his family in Santa Monica.
We went to the beach, ate yummy Thai food and pizza,
and enjoyed listening to Mia and Gina play their instruments.
Gina and Nanette doing homework :)
blessed with beautiful scenery and weather

a snowy valley hike in Council Bluffs...

a refreshing hike in the state forest in Albuquerque...
camping in the desert
Pres did most of the work!

camping at the coast
