Albuquerque, New Mexico - We spent four relaxing days at the Beggs family abode - thanks to Dorsey and her great talent for planning. It went something like this … hiked in the state park just outside of Tijeras and were in awe of the huge yellow butterflies that were attracted to
the mini marsh there; danced in the sprinkler and backyard pool with Hannah and Alicia, while Miss Amanda napped; roasted smores on Bill’s huge grill; helped the girls practice their piano and sang tunes accompanied by Preston on the guitar; made treasure boxes and played games; and then lounged at Eisenhower public pool and flew down the tunnel slides. On top of that, there was LOADS of good coffee conversation as well as fondue,
Mexican food and lima bean soup. It was a blast to hang out with the girls, who were marvelous playmates and friends… needless to say, it was very hard to say farewell.Flagstaff, Ariz. - Disaster struck in the desert for a few hours after we discovered that our very detailed planning did not result in the health coverage that we anticipated for July. So pls pray that we stay injury free and healthy for the next month (SERIOUSLY). It’s okay to be happily homeless and unemployed … but under-insured is somewhat discombobulating.
Santa Monica, Calif. - Back home on the West Coast we were welcomed in So. Cal. by $5/gallon gas and the first driver in 3,000 miles to try to run us off the road (did we already say we were under-insured). Thankfully, the Gobel clan showed us once again that So. Cal can be all about beaches, music and napping (LOVED THAT). It was great to see Preston’s brother
Erich (BIG TX for the guitar, bro), his wife Nanette and our niece Gina after almost a 2-year hiatus and also meet niece Mia in person for the first time. The weather was perfect and being with family is as good as it gets. Gina, 6, is an avid storyteller and singer and is talented at both. Watch out world.

I picked up our 1st CSA share last week with the kiddos, and Zoe asked, "Where's Preston? Why isn't he working here?" I reminded her of your plans to go to China, but she somehow thought you'd still be here to do the garden. She was pretty sad for they next ten minutes as reality hit. Miss you guys!
OK, I've finally visited your blog and now I'm REALLY excited to return and follow your adventures as they continue to develop! Best wishes, Krista and Preston... and may god bless you richly!
